To Barry and I, EVOHE has a personal meaning of balance between man, woman and earth. We first saw the word ‘EVOHE’ written on the side of a steel boat that regularly tours the Antarctic. Being keen sailors and looking for adventure, Baz and I discovered the boat and the beautiful name of our new business at the same time. Yes, a different kind of adventure but an adventure nevertheless. EVOHE is a journey for us. We have discovered so much about nature, humanity and ourselves and we continue to enjoy the ride.
Conceived in the hills of Northern Rivers NSW, EVOHE began from humble beginnings. We reminisce about Barry selling his motor bike for $10k to start the business and how we were like a couple of toddlers on the freeway in those early days. Beginning as a home based business, EVOHE soon grew larger than our spare room and we found the tables had turned and we were living at EVOHE – not the other way around!

Doing work that I love with the love of my life is a dream come true and when I consider where we both “were” prior to our meeting; I would never have thought it would be possible. Baz had just had a Stem Cell Transplant and I was coming out of a “hippie under a tree” phase. We had both been somewhat out of the world and were gently finding our way out again. We met at our local organic markets and it was literally love at first sight. As corny as that may sound, we both knew what was real for us. Being passionate about our lifestyle and the products we bring to the world with EVOHE means that we are constantly faced with making ethical decisions.
There are many shortcuts in business and the world of cosmetics. A lot of ingredients we tried to source in the beginning did not meet up to our standards and we often had to go searching for alternatives. One thing I realised after being disappointed with raw materials many times was that there are always alternatives.
When you hit a wall, there is always a way around. If it takes longer, then so be it. At the end of the day, our conscience is clear and we know we have done our best.
