3 Simple Ways to Prevent Breakouts

b0ad684dc8f05541774111577a32e53e

1. Wash your face daily

Cleanse your face twice a day daily with EVOHE Foam Wash. We recommend using our anti-bacterial bamboo face cloth when cleansing. The cloth is a gentle exfoliate and it will assist healthy skin renewal.

Avoid cheap foaming cleansers. Many foaming products (even those claiming to be “natural/organic”) often contain a synthetic version of coconut called Cocamidopropyl betaine. This is used commonly in foaming cleansers, as it is cheaper and foams/bubbles more easily than the natural version. The downside? Cocamidopropyl betaine is a synthetic surfactant; it will strip the skin of its natural oils (NOT ideal for acne prone skin!) and has been associated with irritation, allergic reactions and contact dermatitis.

EVOHE Foam Wash is 100% natural and does NOT contain cheap foaming agents. It’s the pump mechanism that helps this product to ‘foam’.

2. Don’t scrub

Whenever we get something we don’t want on our skin, our natural reaction is to scrub it until it goes away. However this is only going to make the problem worse. Instead of eliminating acne, excessive scrubbing can irritate the skin, causing ruptures to get even more inflamed, resulting in infection and possibly scarring.

As an alternative to harsh exfoliates, we recommend using EVOHE Silica Mask 2-3 times per week. Once the mask dries, gently use your fingertips to ‘buff’ away the powder. This removes dead skin cells from the surface of your skin, without aggravating your acne. Silica Mask can also be used as an overnight spot treatment to dry out your pimples!

After removing the mask with lukewarm water, be sure to lightly pat your face with a face towel – do not rub dry!

3. Don’t Dry Out Your Skin

Drink PLENTY of water, and moisturise, moisturise, moisturise! Dry skin can make matters worse – oil production might go into overdrive and this can affect the skin’s Ph levels.

We recommend EVOHE Repair Intensive as a daily moisturiser. The anti-inflammatory and antibacterial qualities of this product will soothe, reduce redness and nourish the skin. For extra hydration, add a pump of EVOHE 3.6.9 Omega – this will combat oiliness and balance the skin’s Ph levels.

What’s so special about EVOHE Foam Wash?

Many cheap foaming products (even those claiming to be “natural/organic” contain a chemical called Cocamidopropyl betaine. This chemical can be an effective foam booster or foam stabilizer, making it a common ingredient in bubble bath products, body washes and shampoos. The downside??… Cocamidopropyl betaine is a synthetic surfactant; it has been associated with irritation and allergic contact dermatitis, reactions that could be due to the ingredient itself or to impurities present in it, such as

3-dimethylaminopropylamine.

EVOHE FOAM WASH IS 100% NATURAL and does NOT contain ANY cheap foaming agents that strip the skin of its natural oils. In fact, it is the pump mechanism that causes this product to “foam”

Autumn Skin Care Tips

shutterstock_109432004.151327

Our skin changes with every season and with the onset of cooler weather, our skin tends to get drier, dehydrated, and easily aggravated.

Here are a few quick tips to keep your skin looking its best during the colder months ahead.

1. Moisturise daily

Daily application of a good moisturiser keeps the barrier of the skin (the outermost layer) in good repair and specifically keeps it from drying out and cracking. Depending on your skin type, there are 3 EVOHE products you can use as a daily moisturiser:

During the cooler months, try mixing ½ pump of 3.6.9 Omega with either the Moisture 24/7 Lite, or Repair Intensive and apply as a daily moisturiser. This will provide extra hydration and nourishment.

2. Use A Mask

Use a hydrating mask at least once a week to soften and add moisture and nutrients to the skin. Try our all-natural Silica Mask.

This Mask is enriched with the skin refining properties of Australian Mineral Clay and Nutritious Green Superfoods that purify skin texture and firm skin tone, delivering essential building blocks for skin health and vitality. Beneficial for all skin types.

Tip: once the mask dries into a fine, white powder, use your fingertips to gently ‘buff’ away the powder (using small circular motions). This acts as an exfoliant, removing dead skin cells and revealing bright, glowing skin.

3. Use an SPF

Summer may be gone, but the sun is still there! We recommend using EVOHE Colours Mineral Powder as a daily sunscreen as it contains SPF 24. The powder can be mixed with any of our moisturisers to create a beautiful liquid foundation (no preservatives!). Steer clear of non-natural SPF’s as these contain a number of toxic ingredients.

4. Invest in a nourishing hand cream

Keep a mini bottle of Repair Intensive in your handbag during Autumn and Winter. This makes an amazing hand cream! :)

5. Hydrate, hydrate, hydrate

The most basic rule in protecting your skin is to keep it hydrated. So, drink PLENTY of water (at least 2 liters per day) and eat lots of yummy fruits and veggies – this rule is applicable for any season.

Problems breastfeeding? Increase your breast milk supply naturally

imagesThere are several herbs that seem to increase the supply of breast milk. These herbs fall into a category of herbs called galactagogues. A galactagogue is anything that promotes lactation, or milk production. Most of the herbs in this category can be used as either a tea, liquid tincture or as a capsule or even baked into delicious cookies. If you are wanting a combination, it is often better to use the tea or liquid tincture forms. Some of these herbs include: Fennel, Fenugreek, Shatavari (asparagus root), Blessed Thistle and Alfalfa.

As you can see, some of these herbs can be incorporated into your diet (fenugreek in curries, fennel in soups and salads, alfalfa in salads and juices).

It is also important to look at your stress levels and their impact on your milk supply. Of Effective-Ways-to-Increase-Your-Milk-Supply-Naturallycourse with a young baby there are “normal” stresses, but you need to be mindful of anything that is placing an added burden on your nervous system. These burdens and stressors can also be supported by the use of herbal remedies, teas and supportive foods which are dependent upon the situation.

Some basic suggestions include: making sure you drink adequate water to stay hydrated, incorporating nutrient rich vegetables and fruits in your diet and eating whole-grains like oats for slow release energy. It is also a good idea to continue with the same pregnancy multivitamin or pregnancy and breastfeeding vitamins you took prior to the baby’s birth. The intake of these extra nutrients ensures that your body is not sacrificial to the nutritional requirements of the baby.
