Winter is here! This means shorter days, and cooler nights! A change of season means a change to your skin regime in order to prevent skin problems that arise during the cooler months. For some people, the problem is worse than just a general dry feeling. Skin can get very dry in winter that it results in flaking, cracking, even eczema. The low temperatures, low humidity and strong, harsh winds suck away the moisture in our bodies and deplete our skin of its natural lipid layer which keeps the skin from drying out.
Oil products such as the Omega 3.6.9 are great for banishing dry winter skin. Good oils are compatible with the skin’s natural sebum, non-greasy and absorbed rapidly. This can help to reduce the signs of stress, improve collagen production and provide ongoing protection against damaging environmental exposure. Perfect for the cooler months ahead! Using an oil on top of your usual moisturiser can also add that extra layer moisture during the dryer months.
It is also vital that we have good nutrition, plenty of sleep, water and (some) essential fatty acids! This is the perfect combination to staying well and surviving the cooler months of winter this year! Below are some great Winter skin and body tips to keep you nurtured during these colder months.
Make sure you exfoliate during Winter, as our skin tends to become dry and gain a build up of dead skin cells. If we don’t exfoliate regularly, our moisturisers won’t soak in properly. Use EVOHE Face & Body Exfoliant 1-3 times er week to detoxify and stimulate skin texture while also softening and firming skin tone. Always apply a nourishing moisturiser such as Omega 3.6.9 after exfoliating as your skin will be crying out for some serious hydration during the cooler months!
No doubt that your lips will be needing some TLC as well in these cooler months, gently brush your lips with a toothbrush to remove dead skin. Finish with a moisturising lip balm or oil and remember to NOT lick your lips! Also upping your water intake is important for smoother lips.
Same rules apply to the body! Exfoliate with EVOHE Face & Body Exfoliant or Espresso Scrub Bar 1-3 times per week to firm skin tone, stimulate blood flow and most importantly remove dead skin cells from the surface of your skin. Feed the skin with good oils such as Omega Body at least once per week after exfoliating to provide excellent hydration. Also, make sure to avoid long, hot showers as they can strip your skin of valuable moisture!
Cracked heels also tend to appear more prominently in Winter, to help this soak your feet in warm water then use an EVOHE Face & Body Exfoliant or Espresso Scrub Bar to massage your feet and remove dead skin. Follow with Repair Intensive, slip on some cotton socks and let it soak in overnight!
